The video above and the text below are taken directly from the Frontier Bushcraft Tree & Plant Identification Masterclass. This is an example of just one section from the course.  There are over 130 sections in the course, spread over 12 modules.

This is an example of one of the sections in the course where I take a walk, highlighting species we have already covered in the course.  In this way, I can move quite quickly and it serves to consolidate knowledge.  But I also add in some species not explicitly covered at that point (but where we have already addressed the family as a whole).  This section is from Module 6 of the course, about half way through the year.

Module 6 Welcome and Walk

In Module 6 of the Tree & Plant Identification Masterclass, we take to the field.

Modules 1 through 5 provide a critical foundational framework as well as a source of relevant reference materials.

But now here taking a break from these more academic presentations and heading to the woods for a set of videos filmed on location.

Taking To The Woods

This will allow us to examine various species in their natural habitat, to note their characteristics in situ, with all the variability that nature brings.

This is an important part of the process as it puts the trees and plants into context.

Tree and Plant Identification Walk - River Habitat, Northeastern England

In the above video I take a walk in a narrow river valley in the northeast of England which provides a rich and diverse habitat. I've distilled a whole day's walk down into this video. It contains 35 species of trees and plants, some of which have been covered in earlier modules - and so provides good consolidation for these important species - as well as some species which are new to the course.

In the course you can download and print a worksheet posted along with this entry to take notes from the video. It contains the list of plants in the above video in the order they appear, including their scientific names.

This document contains the common names and scientific names of the tree and plant species covered in this module's main video.

The plant and tree species' names are spaced out in such a way that you can use this document as a worksheet to take notes from the video.
